The energy model we adopt as a society and climate change are inextricably linked. 97% of the scientific community identifies as responsible for climate change to human activity 1. The main greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by using fossil fuels for energy production.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2 (IPCC), humanity can not issue more than 1,000 gigatons of CO2 from now, if we are to prevent global average temperature from rising more than 1.5 or 2 degrees Celsius: if we project the current rate of consumption, we will have delivered all of this carbon by 2040
